From June 20 to 25th, 2010, members of FUMC’s Volunteers in Mission group traveled to
Kings Beach, California, to assist the United Methodist Church there begin construction on an addition to their church building.
Kings Beach UMC serves a small community on the north shore of Lake Tahoe, and offers Sunday worship services in both English and Spanish.
With its Lake Tahoe location the church is sometimes a destination for church youth groups, but until this summer it lacked adequate bathroom facilities to accommodate larger groups.
VIM members from FUMC Lodi offered to help the Kings Beach congregation build the additional space to house new bathrooms. Working alongside Kings Beach volunteers, FUMC volunteers Jim and Jean, Kathy B., Virginia M., Jim N., and Henry G. contributed labor and expertise in the construction effort, and made new friends along the way.
You can help support our Volunteers in Mission by making a contribution in the Sunday morning offering envelope, and marking "VIM" on your envelope or check.
