For 2017 our church has adopted the theme “Kindness Counts”.
Expressions of kindness are a natural outgrowth of grateful hearts. Kindness is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. As we allow the Holy Spirit to guide our lives and thoughts, kindness will grow.
As we seek to cultivate kindness that counts, here is an affirmation you might use:
I have the mind of Christ.
My mind is full of kindness.
I choose kindness today in
my thoughts, words, decisions, and actions.
A recent commercial tells a story of a Christian pastor and a Muslim Imam who are lifelong friends but aren’t as sprightly as they were in their youth. One day the pastor has a moment of inspiration and decides to do something to make the Imam’s life and work a little easier. What the pastor doesn’t know, is that the Imam also has the same idea for the pastor.1

Stories of Kindness
On January 2 a new member of the gym was on the treadmill beside mine. He asked if I knew of the landscape videos to watch while walking/running. I did not, but he kindly showed me how to start the videos. Now on my daily walk I stroll through Auckland, New Zealand or a quaint Bavarian village; I hike the Grand Canyon or a forest in Germany; I wander in the Trinity Mountains near Shasta or a national forest in New Zealand. His kind gesture makes my daily treadmill routine far more enjoyable! — Lori
